What you'll do...

  • Responsible for leading QOS initiatives within the production department.

  • Review with production team leaders and Process Coaches quality issues and be the point of contact with other departments such as Machining, Quality and MP&L.

  • Coordinate during quality concerns containment actions, dock holds, special checks to eliminate any impact to customer.

  • Keep traceability records regarding quality actions for future reference.

  • Manage quality documentation on FTT, 8Ds, Scrap, Dock Holds, Dock Audit, etc.

  • Participate in Quality and Contamination audits.

  • Prepare standard reports for Quality reviews within the plant and with other areas."

  • Review rejected parts for quality integrity and decide next steps. Issue daily Incoming Quality report.

  • Lead cross functional team initiatives in quality to achieve no faults forward / zero defects.

  • Lead 8D resolution of Warranty and VO concerns working together with Quality, MP&L, Machining and VO.

  • Coordinate Green and Black Belt projects within the department."

  • Work with QLSCM, POSMON and other required systems

  • Document and control error proofing checks, internal checks, and additional containments.

  • Participate in interplant benchmarking exercises

  • Actively participate in Simultaneous Engineering meetings, Forward Planning and Product Design to ensure MTC process is followed.

  • Apply engineering principles & analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products

  • Implement interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues using 8D tool, 6 panel, etc.

  • Manage and direct statistical process control activities

  • Knowledge of and ability to execute measurement systems analysis & variable data analysis

  • Establish and monitor quality target levels for each build

  • Provide input for design and assembly concepts which will yield nominal variations

  • Establish critical characteristics for gauging and measuring data collection methods

  • Determine inspection equipment and facility requirements

  • Support expedited concern resolution with cross functional teams including the Quality Department, Production and Suppliers

  • Review internal/external suppliers for critical characteristics process compatibility

  • Review incoming quality concerns to maintain quality with assigned area; must have experience with initiating containment, determining root cause and implementing corrective actions

With a focus on Dimensional Control :

  • Use company and industry standard processes and tools to plan, design, manage, and utilize gauges for measurement of components and assemblies

  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance principles

  • Interpret data from inspection equipment and recommend responses

  • Ensure gauge calibrations; certification; and repeatability and reproducibility

  • Determine locators and measuring points

  • Verify tolerance/engineering specifications

  • Develop dimensional/product/process control plans

  • Define and conduct machine process capability analysis

With a focus on Welding :

  • Develop and manage welding techniques, materials, and technologies

  • Apply knowledge of welding technology; equipment controllers; and weld gun design and evaluation techniques

  • Execute and verify weld processes and procedures

  • Implement the weld certification strategy

  • Understand weld schedule development

  • Implement weld control plans and requirements

You'll have...

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Experience in manufacturing engineering

  • Demonstrated experience in accomplishing tasks and objectives

  • Proven problem solving ability

  • Previous production supervision

  • Microsoft Office Knowledge (Word/Excel/Outlook)

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

  • Previous automotive and quality analysis experience

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certified

This position is a range of salary grades 6, 7 and 8.
