Ellwood Crankshaft Group is the world's leading manufacturer of large, one-of-a-kind, multiple-throw crankshafts. ECG's products and services include crankshafts and eccentrics used in mechanical stamping presses, reciprocating air and gas compressors, reciprocating pumps, engines, mechanical shears, rock crushers, homogenizers and other miscellaneous applications. ECG services the locomotive, shipping, mechanical press, oil and gas and compression markets. ECG is currently hiring for the Induction Hardening Operator position. Employees in this position operate induction hardeners. Duties and responsibilities are dynamic and may change over time to suit business needs. The Induction Hardening Operator position is a non-exempt, full time opportunity that may work day, night, rotating or a 4x4 shift as dictated by business needs. Minimum Requirements and Qualifications: High school diploma or GED Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and/or diagrammatic forms. Strong personal computer skills, including Microsoft office programs. Excellent organizational skills. Must be results oriented with a strong desire to succeed. Ability to work independently (self-directed). Solid verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret blueprints including GD&T. Ability to prioritize tasks independently. Ability to communicate clearly and distinctly both verbally and in writing. Ability to read blueprints and written instruction. Thorough understanding of manufacturing and manufacturing processes preferred. Ability to use various measuring instruments, including micrometers and dial indicators. Ability to work well with a team and independently. Detailed oriented with the ability to organize and prioritize. Strong analytical skills and demonstrated problem-solving abilities. Results driven with a strong desire to succeed. Ability to work a variety of work schedules and overtime as required. Preferred Qualifications: 5 plus years of induction hardening experience Operation of furnaces; gas, electric, and induction. Operation of induction hardener; set-up, dimensional checks, and recipe management. Perform inspection activities. Operate straightening press. Executes work according to product specifications, blueprints, drawings, and work instructions. Material handling, crane operation, fork/man lift operation, vehicle operation, recordkeeping, preventative maintenance, housekeeping, and routine labor work. Experience with TOC/LEAN principles and projects Strong understanding of Syteline RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE: Job requires set up, operation, loading, unloading, and monitoring of integral hardening and tempering furnaces. Operation of straightening press. Operation of blast cleaning equipment. Operator ensures compliance of product to required specifications. Conduct necessary organizational housekeeping, and basic maintenance activities to maintain efficient and productive operations. Control Machines and processes: Use available controls to establish and maintain the appropriate equipment parameter for processing customer work. Understand written work instructions and operate machines accordingly. Move and handle material and build furnace loads: Find specific jobs in receiving area and move to staging area via fork truck. Monitoring and documenting: Complete all required fields through Syteline ERP system. Identify deviations which may affect results and notify the appropriate staff member(s). Inspection & Testing: Conduct required tests and observations to evaluate the accuracy or deviation of process results and communicate information to senior staff and/or supervisor. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position will require occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds and frequent lifting of up to 30 pounds.  This position will also require frequent sitting, standing, reaching, pushing, and clim ing.  It will also include occasional walking, climbing, crawling, and squatting.  The physical demands for this job are Light-Medium.
