New York University Theoretical and Computational Chemistry Postdoctoral Fellowship in Shanghai, China

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the group of Prof. William Glover at NYU Shanghai to be involved in developing multiphysics neural network potentials and polarizable embedding methodology to simulate photoinduced charge-transfer dynamics in multichromophoric systems. The specifics of the project are to achieve linear scaling in the integral-exact direct reaction field method, developed by our group in doi.org/10.1021/acs.jctc.3c01018 . The methodology will be applied to address the role of low-lying charge-separated states in far-red light absorbing photosynthetic complexes. Much of the development utilizes Graphical Processing Unit (GPU)-based quantum chemistry code. More details can be found at wp.nyu.edu/glover .

Research at NYU Shanghai is supported by the Center for Computational Chemistry (https://research.shanghai.nyu.edu/chemistry) , a research institute operated jointly by NYU, NYU Shanghai, and East China Normal University (ECNU). The center has a core group of faculty members who are conducting frontier research in various fields of theoretical/computational chemistry, biology, and materials science. More details can be found at research.shanghai.nyu.edu/chemistry .

Terms of employment at NYU Shanghai (https://shanghai.nyu.edu/academics/faculty) are comparable to NYU New York and other U.S. institutions.

Candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or Physics or related fields by the position start date

  • Experience with molecular/quantum dynamics

  • Experience developing electronic structure code

  • Strong command of written and spoken English

The ideal candidate will also have expertise in one or more of the following: excited-state electronic structure methods, analytical gradient theory, non-adiabatic dynamics, neural-network potentials.

The position is available immediately subject to immigration regulations or upon agreement. The position term is for 12 months initially, with possibility of extension.

To be considered, applicants should submit a cover letter with a brief description of research accomplishments and interests and a curriculum vitae with a list of publications. Additionally, applicants should provide a contact list containing the names and email addresses of at least two referees. Referees may be contacted at a later stage in the search process.

Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled. Please email william.glover@nyu.edu to confirm your application submission.

Please email the NYU Shanghai NY Office of Faculty Recruitment shanghai.faculty.recruitment@nyu.edu with any questions regarding the application process.
