Abbott Strategy & Operations Director in Shanghai, China

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Identify and conduct detailed design of strategic / transformational initiatives and projects, bringing in best practices and insights from internal and external sources (market, competition and other industries) into the project design.

  • Develop long range vision of the needs of EPD in China, anticipate the impact of business trends and prepare strategic plans to accommodate business changes while meeting the overall goals to grow the organization

  • EPD China growth strategy development including for VBP (Provincial VBP and National-VBP), develop strategy and action plan with cross functional teams to minimize/mitigate the business impact of VBP

  • Explore business model options, e.g. multi-channel engagement models for brands facing VBP challenges

  • Mobilize resources to support execution of counter strategy

  • Lead cross functional teams – across commercial, operations, HR, finance and product development functions on key transformation projects.

  • Own the execution and delivery of chosen transformation projects and ensure regular problem solving, tracking and de-bottlenecking. Handle at least 3-4 high profile projects in parallel at any time. Each project to be delivered accountably with clear deadlines and outcomes (defined KPIs)

  • Influence China leadership team members on changes arising out of key project recommendations, with sound logic and supporting insights from best in class from the industry.

  • Accountability for delivering high quality results, with a shared accountability for the top line and bottom line results as part of the business case/deal model from the selected initiatives

  • Success in the role will be determined based on the contribution to the long range top line (or bottom line) result that underpin the vision to double the business within 5 years

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

The individual is expected to lead cross functional teams and influence with logic, judgement and data, as opposed to direct reporting responsibilities
