AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

Amazon Web Services came to China in 2013, and has been relentlessly investing and expanding our infrastructure and business since then. Amazon Web Services launched its China (Beijing) Region (operated by Sinnet) in September 2016 and its China (Ningxia) Region (operated by NWCD) in December 2017. In 2019, Amazon Web Services added a new region in Hong Kong, making China the only country with three Amazon Web Services regions aside from the U.S. In 2022, Amazon Web Services launched Local Zone in Taipei. Amazon Web Services has also established an AI lab in Shanghai and two IoT labs in Shenzhen and Taipei. The Amazon Web Services Partner Network has thousands of Partners in China. Amazon Web Services has supported over 10,000 local startups and has provided cloud skills training to over 700,000 talents. The AWS Startup BD team works directly with many of the top startups in the world. We spend our days interfacing with founders of startups, top accelerator and incubator leadership teams, many early stage angel and VC investors, and navigating cross AWS an d Amazon to enable startups to realize outsized success. The team is comprised of rare group of high caliber founders, venture investors and accelerator professionals, many of who have extensive global

background, to drive high impact initiatives across AWS to build the startup ecosystem in Greater China region and support the next generation of startup entrepreneurs.

We’re hiring for roles across major startup hubs in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan and seeking driven and talented team members who are passionate about startup life and helping startup founders.

We’re inviting you to join our team as PreVC Business Development Manager to partner strategically with some of the most innovative and highest potential startups in Great China region. You will generally entail working with a startup's executive team to understand their strategic priorities on technology, products, go to market, expansion plans, and other areas of strategic importance and then bring the global resources of Amazon (not just AWS) to the table to see how we can accelerate their success and business growth.

Key job responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the Startup BD Greater China team in driving the necessary business insights, strategic and technical relationships with top startups and key stakeholders to establish meaningful business relationships.

  • Work with venture partners as their single point of contact of all things AWS, help them understand AWS benefits and where there may be exciting opportunities for their startups.

  • Participate actively in startup community events of all kinds to identify high potential startups and build personal relationship to startup founders and influencers; evangelize AWS’ value and innovation culture to startup founders and ensure they have full awareness and access to the full spectrum of the resources and services AWS/Amazon has to offer.

  • Work closely with founders to ensure they’re successfully engaging with AWS platform, making sure they have the technical and business resource required for optimal customer and identifying additional opportunities for them to work more deeply with AWS and other Amazon business units.

  • Work with and advise account management teams on solution selling and establishing executive relationships in their key accounts; keep abreast with VC investment trend and cutting--edge technologies, able to identify edge technologies, future unicorns at early stage.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience and knowledge directly in the startup and venture capital ecosystem

  • 3+ years of experience working within the technology industry (cloud, software, mobile, SaaS, e-commerce, etc.)

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • 3+ years of business development, partnership management, or sourcing new business experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in business development, partner development, sales or alliances management

  • 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
