Teradyne Manufacturing Engineer in Shanghai, China

As we are planning to start up production in Suzhou China, by using Contract Manufacturers (CM), we are searching for manufacturing engineers, who can be the link between the CM and Teradyne Robotics Operations Headquarter in Denmark.

This position has responsibility for the following 3 activities:

  • Reactive Problem Solving and Contract Manufacturer Support

  • Working with contract manufacturing resources; support analysis and integration with both suppliers and Teradyne on supplier quality issues.

  • Drive containment and CAPA to assure customer shipments can be maintained while

    assuring the quality of the product. This includes activities such as writing hold notices and deviations, reviewing supplier 8Ds and escalating to operations and/or engineering.

    • Daily support to the CM, to ensure right quality and delivery performance. Follow up and report on KPI’s.
  • Drive continuous improvements as a team work with the CM.

  • Part Qualification / 0-series

  • Execute the qualification of mechanical and electromechanical components assuring the parts will meet specifications over the product life.

  • This includes activities such as supplier process audits, review of first article reports, utilizing statistical software to validate process capability and review of finish and cosmetic standards.

  • Supplier Improvement

  • Drive activities in coordination with the Teradyne’s global Supply Base Management Team to improve their performance over time.

  • This includes activities such as supplier system & process level audits, providing feedback to Teradyne and supplier management, regular visits to suppliers to follow up on proactive improvement initiatives as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions.

  • Basic Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Education Required

  • Bachelor degree or above in mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.

  • Fluent in English is a MUST (Written & Verbal). Chinese communication is a big plus.

  • Excellent experience and strong knowledge in fabrication processes is a MUST ( machining\ sheet-metal\ tooling \ assembly etc ).

  • Good understanding on mechanical drawings (Tolerance, GD &T etc.)

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in design/manufacturing/operations and/or working with suppliers.

  • Good understanding on quality concepts and LEAN manufacturing.

  • Experience in theory and practical application of quality tools (Control Plan, FMEA, MSA, 8D etc.)

  • Experience with and working knowledge of both mechanical and electromechanical components (cable assemblies, power supplies, pneumatic, molding/casting etc.) is a big plus.

  • Supplier audit/development experience is a big plus.

  • Experience in supplier/part qualification is a plus.

  • Experience in high mix low volume industry is preferred.

  • Others:

  • Self-driven and result orientated.

  • Able to work independently with minimal guidance.

  • Able to Travel as necessary to suppliers or other Teradyne sites.

  • Proactive thinking.

  • Good working attitude .

  • Leadership is a big plus. Can communicate effectively internally and externally.
