Texas Instruments Field Applications Engineer - Gate Driver in Shanghai, China

The Analog Field Applications Engineer (AFAE) is responsible for partnering with Sales and providing Analog related technical expertise throughout the sales cycle. The AFAE proactively identifies current products and/or creative solutions to solve existing customer projects and create new functionality/opportunities. In this role, the AFAE uses in-depth product knowledge to provide technical expertise to gain credibility and develop relationships with customers.

Our business has very high growth in TI and is in a segment where the market is fast growing. We’re searching for field applications engineer who have the passion and excitement to grow, innovative, take an active role in opportunities finding, execute the characterization until ramp, and provide post ramp application support to customers.

This role is responsible for application support for Gate Driver used in Traction Inverter, OBC+DC/DC , and Other power modules. Key responsibilities include:

• Answer customer questions and supporting design-in activities for released products. This includes:

• Reply email questions from customers

• Schematic and Layout Review of customer application

• Debug of customer problems by re-creating issues in our evaluation boards and/or customer boards

• On-site support for customer board as required as well as for technical training and deep-dive

• Write application notes that explain different use cases, implementation and/or flexibility of our products

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor in Electrical Engineer or related field of study

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in related field and of 3+ years supporting automotive customers

  • Experience with design, analysis, and debug of EV/HEV traction inverter, OBC+DC/DC and AC/DC, DC/DC power modules.

  • Understanding of power supply topology and control law, familiar with gate driver device (special for Isolated driver)

  • Basic Knowledge of Functional Safety or ISO26262 .

  • Basic knowledge of EMI/EMC automotive standards

  • Ability to run simulations, and create/ review schematics and board layout

  • Fluent in English

Preferred qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of traction inverter is preferred

• Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions

• Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery

• Demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships
