Hyatt Compensation & Benefit Specialist (Contractor) in SHANGHAI, China

Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Compensation and Benefits Specialist to join our HR team. The Compensation and Benefits Specialist will report to the Dir of Human Resources, Total Rewards & HR Analytics ASPAC. It will play a key role in supporting the development, implementation, and management of Hyatt’s regional and sub-regional compensation programs, total rewards initiatives, and applicable policies. This position will involve preparing senior hotel compensation, analyzing market trends, building internal salary structures, doing data analytics, reviewing and designing benefits plans to ensure competitive and equitable practices for the Asia Pacific region.

Key Responsibilities

Total Rewards Package Proposals & Cost Analytics

  • Develop and present compensation packages for hotel GMs, doing cost analytics taking into account individual performance, market data, and company policies. Ensure that all proposals are competitive, fair, and in compliance with local labor laws and regulations.

  • Conduct market research and salary surveys to assess competitive compensation rates.

  • Benchmark company compensation practices against industry standards and competitor data.

  • Assist in the design and implementation of salary structures, pay grades, and job leveling.

  • Review and update salary ranges and compensation policies based on analysis and market data

Compensation Administration

  • Process and analyze compensation data for merit increases, promotions, and adjustments.

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and legal requirements.

  • Assist with China SAFE filing for company stock recipients

Data Cleaning, Reporting and Data Management

  • Assist in conducting audits and cleansing of HR data in HRIS to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

  • Develop and maintain compensation reports, dashboards, and metrics to track and analyze compensation trends.

  • Prepare detailed compensation analysis reports for senior management and other stakeholders.

Managing and Optimizing Insurance and Benefits Programs

  • Annually review the insurance plan to ensure they remain competitive and meet the needs of our associates.

  • Collaborate with insurance brokers to design and implement insurance plans that provide comprehensive coverage while managing costs effectively.

  • Regularly review and assess the insurance benefits provided for hotels, ensuring they are in line with industry standards and company policies.

Communication and Advisory

  • Provide guidance and support to HR and management on compensation-related matters.

  • Communicate compensation policies and programs effectively to employees, addressing any questions or concerns.

Compliance and Legal

  • Monitor changes in labor laws and regulations to ensure compensation practices remain compliant.

  • Prepare for and support audits related to compensation and benefits.

Qualifications:

Experience

• 2-4 years of experience in compensation or data analysis.

• Demonstrated experience with data analysis tools e.g. Pivot Table, Power Pivot, Power BI, Tableau

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance/Economy, Human Resources, or a related field.

• Relevant certification in compensation, analytics, finance (e.g., Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)) or CPA (Chartered Public Accountant) is a plus.

Skills Needed to Perform this Job

• Adequate fluency in English and Chinese.

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex data.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Table), Powerpoint, MS Form etc.,

• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.

• Knowledge of Python, RPA programming and application, is a plus.
