Position Summary

This position is responsible for the coordination and supervision of plant maintenance personnel, contractors and production equipment maintenance involving minimizing equipment breakdowns, effectively conducting equipment repairs, change-overs, installations, preventative maintenance, special projects and the lock-out/tag-out program within the Shakopee, Minnesota Manufacturing Facility to ensure safety, quality and productivity goals are achieved on a daily basis.

Position Responsibilities

Supervise and effectively schedule/coordinate the ongoing requirements of the facility maintenance activities involving maintenance personnel, equipment, contractors ensuring timely and accurate work is conducted to effectively maintain the plant business operation.

Develop and implement maintenance strategies, procedures, methods and training programs which would involve maintenance continuous improvement efforts, training associates, supervising maintenance activities, projects, technicians and contractors.

Ensure that maintenance associates and contractors comply with all standard operating procedures, safety and quality policies.

Plan/schedule maintenance activities utilizing an electronic system (Microsoft Office Package Software) to allow tracking and reporting on the status of all maintenance activities ensuring regular communication and reporting was conducted.

Evaluate, document and present maintenance associate’s performance evaluations, annual goals and development plans ensuring skill and performance levels continue to meet the manufacturing operations requirements.

Act as liaison with other manufacturing departments and customers.

Monitor and control maintenance costs.

Apply continuous improvement management principles throughout the department’s daily activities.

Coordinate 24 hour on-call service ensuring continuous support for maintenance associates on all shifts aiding in problem resolutions.

Collaborate and support the implementation and maintenance of a maintenance training program continuously building bench strength within the maintenance field.

Participate as an active Team Member of the Plant Safety Team.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Experience

Five (5) to ten (10) years of demonstrated successful experience, knowledge and abilities in leading, coordinating and conducting manufacturing maintenance involving machinery, facility, personnel and contractor activities within a manufacturing facility environment.

Understands and successfully worked within a self-directed work team using lean concepts to support multiple work cells and manufacturing involving multiple skilled trade professionals on three (3) shifts, contractors, technical associates and various levels of management.

Working knowledge of PC computer systems including Microsoft Office.

Strong leadership and coaching skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills including strong verbal, written and interactive communication with diplomacy and conflict resolution.

Familiarity with and prior utilization of continuous improvement manufacturing concepts (CIP) with capital project management (PMP) and software-driven preventive maintenance programs (CMMS).

Working knowledge of all applicable OSHA standards including lockout/tag out, confined spaces, blood borne pathogens, machine guarding, hazardous communications, PPE, etc.

Possess excellent working knowledge in all industrial trades.

Working knowledge of PLC programming, packaging equipment, plastics, metals and chemical processing.

Mechanical ability to perform advanced equipment troubleshooting, diagnostics and repair/rebuild.

Excellent organizational skills and abilities to successfully coordinate multiple activities/projects/problem-solving.

Five (5) years manufacturing maintenance supervision experience preferred.

Education and Certification

Technical Associate or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.

Technical certification(s), preferred.
