Robert Half Human Resources (HR) Assistant in Shakopee, Minnesota

Description

Are you passionate about supporting HR functions and eager to grow in a position that could lead to long-term employment? Our client in the construction industry is seeking an organized and detail-oriented HR Assistant to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative environment where no two days are alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day HR operations, including maintaining employee records, processing paperwork, and managing HR files.

  • Support the onboarding process for new employees, including drafting offer letters, verifying employment documents, and coordinating orientation sessions.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as company policies, ensuring timely updates to necessary documentation.

  • Coordinate recruitment efforts by posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks as needed.

  • Serve as a point of contact to employees for HR-related inquiries, resolving issues or redirecting them to appropriate team members.

  • Help administer employee benefits, track PTO, and assist with payroll-related updates.

  • Support special HR projects, such as employee engagement initiatives, training programs, and compliance audits.

  • Previous experience as an HR Assistant or in a supporting HR role, preferably in the construction or related industries.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook; experience with HRIS or payroll systems is a strong plus (Source: SG25 US Administrative and Customer Support.docx).

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Understanding of HR basics, including federal and state employment laws.

  • High attention to detail with an ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

  • Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) or other relevant certification is an advantage (Source: SG25 US Administrative and Customer Support.docx).

  • Familiarity with CRM or ERP systems, as well as advanced Excel skills, is a bonus (Source: SG25-TREND 6).
