BorgWarner Inc. Sr. Product Engineer - Seneca Battery in Seneca, South Carolina

DUTIES: BorgWarner PDS (USA) Inc. seeks a Sr. Product Engineer - Seneca Battery based out of our office at 15545 Wells Highway, Seneca, South Carolina 29678. Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address. This position requires international and domestic travel required, as needed up to 5%.

Responsibilities include coordinating and performing design and development engineering, championing warranty solutions, and implementing cost reductions; conducting drawing markup, stack analysis, fastener and joint analysis; conducting problem solving for manufacturing or product function issues, communication of issues between functional teams, and leadership for product and process improvements; leading Design for Manufacturing and Assembly activities across Seneca work site; developing design solutions to manufacturing issues, warranty issues, and cost reductions; presenting and marketing new design proposals to BorgWarner and customer engineering; processing designs in BorgWarner and customer engineering change management systems; completing complex system and component level stack up studies; analyzing and aligning DFMEAs and PFMEAs; analyzing drawing deviations for functional risk and/or acceptance; Approving or rejecting design deviations based on engineering analysis; working with suppliers to improve quality and address non-conformance and cost; creating, reviewing and editing product drawings for design improvement; supporting production with problem solving expertise to identify product issues; conducting root cause analysis and implementation of effective solutions; and using datamining software (Python, Matlab, etc.) to problem solve recalls, warranty risk, and product performance challenges in manufacturing.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Automotive Engineering and 60 months of experience in the job offered or product engineering and manufacturing. Experience must include experience with design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA) and Product Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA); engineering experience in tolerance stack-up, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing; and experience with statistical analysis. This position requires international and domestic travel required, as needed up to 5%.
