Position Summary

The Senior Logistics Manager will oversee logistics operations across our manufacturing, warehouse and distribution facilities. This role includes inventory control, material handling, and shipping logistics within the distribution network. As a critical leader, the Senior Logistics Manager will ensure the efficient, cost-effective distribution of construction materials. The position requires a strategic thinker, exceptional problem-solving skills, and strong leadership with extensive experience in logistics and supply chain management. This role will be instrumental in optimizing inventory, enhancing distribution processes, and ensuring timely material delivery for ongoing projects.

Primary Accountabilities (Essential Duties):

  • Warehouse Management: Supervise operations within the distribution warehouse, including inventory management, material handling, and shipping and receiving activities. Ensure the efficient organization and operation of the warehouse. Optimize warehouse layout and processes to improve operational efficiency and reduce overhead costs. Coordinate with warehouse managers to monitor and maintain optimal stock levels and ensure adequate materials are available for projects.
  • Inventory Oversight: Oversee inventory levels and accuracy with your team. Manage inventory control systems to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize discrepancies.
  • Shipment Coordination: You and your team will coordinate and schedule outgoing shipments to job sites, ensuring timely and accurate delivery. Work closely with logistics partners and transport providers to optimize delivery routes and schedules. Manage end-to-end material movement, including planning, scheduling, and tracking of shipments from suppliers to warehouses and ultimately to project sites. Establish and maintain a streamlined process for tracking material deliveries, ensuring timely arrivals and resolving any delays or issues that arise during transit.
  • Material Tracking: Implement and maintain systems for tracking the movement of materials from the warehouse to job sites. Monitor and report on the status of shipments and address any delays or issues promptly. Proactively address any issues related to material shortages, transportation delays, or other disruptions to the supply chain. Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks associated with logistics operations and ensure continuity of supply to project sites.
  • Process Improvement: Develop and implement processes and procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of warehouse operations and distribution activities. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline operations and reduce costs and the implementation of new technologies or systems to optimize logistics performance. Prepare regular reports for senior management on key logistics KPIs, shipment status, inventory levels, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and lead a team of warehouse and logistics staff. Provide training, support, and guidance to ensure high performance and adherence to safety and operational standards. Coordinate cross-functional collaboration between warehouse teams, procurement, and project management teams to ensure smooth logistics operations.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Customer and Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external partners regarding distribution and delivery matters. Address any concerns or issues related to material supply and delivery.
  • Cost Management: Monitor logistics costs and work with finance and procurement teams to develop and manage budgets for logistics operations. Identify cost-saving opportunities within the supply chain and implement strategies to reduce transportation and storage costs.
  • Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize the supply chain and distribution processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and customers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Negotiate contracts with logistics service providers and suppliers.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.

Education / Experience: (an equivalent combination of education and experience required to successfully complete the primary accountabilities is indicated below)

Bachelor's Degree (Masters Preferred) in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field
  • 5 Years of Experience in a Leadership Role
  • 10 Years of Experience in Supply Chain and Logistics
  • Experience in Construction Materials Industry a Plus.

Technical Skills

Experience with Epicor (ERP) and MRP (Material Requirements Planning) required, Strong knowledge of logistics software and systems, ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions
