About IPSD
Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Caterpillar’s company strategy includes sustainability as one of four focus areas and IPSD is engaged and actively preparing green energy solutions for the future.
Job Summary:
IPSD has a great opportunity for a Materials Planning Analyst within our Seguin, TX manufacturing facility . In this role, you will be responsible for scheduling, planning, and oversight of material procurement, production, delivery, and inventory levels.
What you will do:
Coordinate flow of materials within the manufacturing facility
Coordinate the transfer of materials (premium freight) to and from inventory or warehouse
Develop and execute material planning for a product line, ensuring that all material requirements for assigned programs are satisfied within the allocated timeframe
Schedule and control the release of materials, monitoring material inventory in the plant and warehouse as well as by critical suppliers
Track and analyze supplier performance metrics and Premium Freight, collaborating and negotiating with supplier to deliver materials per requirements
What skills you will have:
Problem Solving : Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives
Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder
Develops alternative techniques for assessing accuracy and relevance of information
Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution
Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems
Supplier Management - MFG : Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience, and skills into real practice.
Facilitates supplier partnering arrangements that share risk and reward
Monitors supplier performance; works to resolve discrepancies between performance and agreements
Develops quality standards and controls for suppliers
Builds and maintains partnerships with multiple and/or large suppliers
Evaluates issues and terminates supplier relationships as appropriate; works with legal departments
Ensures the fulfillment of report and record-keeping requirements
Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
Accurately gauges the impact and cost of errors, omissions, and oversights
Utilizes specific approaches and tools for checking and cross-checking outputs
Processes limited amounts of detailed information with good accuracy
Learns from mistakes and applies lessons learned
Develops and uses checklists to ensure that information goes out error-free
Collaborating: Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Demonstrates experience participating in productive collaborative processes
Under guidance, initiates collaborative meetings
Assists in communicating shared goals with diverse groups and parties
Helps promote collaboration across generations, functions, regions, and levels
Helps solve business problems and meet business goals through collaborative processes
Additional Information:
The location for this position is Seguin, TX.
Domestic relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.
This position will require less than 10% travel.
