Seattle Children's Veterinary Technician II in Seattle, Washington

Under supervision of the Attending Veterinarian, provide laboratory animal veterinary care for spontaneous and experimental conditions, with the focus on animal health support duties according to standards set forth by the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (the Guide). Help maintain full accreditation status with the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC). Provide animal care and use training to staff and researchers.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent experience. Graduation from a two year veterinary technician program or online programs. Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Veterinary Technician, with at least one year in Laboratory Animal Medicine. A current licensure, registration, or certification in Veterinary Technology in at least one state (can have license through other means but must obtain WA license within 6 months). Surgical experience with rabbits, swine and/or canines, including survival surgical experience and maintaining a survival surgery suite.

Required Credentials

Obtain State of Washington License as Veterinary Technician (LVT) within six months of employment.

Preferred

Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in a medical, biological, or related field. American Assn. of Laboratory Animal Science ALAT, LAT or LATG Certifications. Experience in standard operating procedures, design and implementation.

Compensation Range

$28.44 - $42.66 per hour

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
