The Challenge

Our Overhead Transmission business is in search of a Transmission Design Engineer with PLS-CADD experience to join its team.

Leidos is a multi-disciplinary, leading engineering consulting firm, specializing in power delivery from generation to transmission, distribution, and substation. The transmission line team is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to be involved in all facets of transmission line design, including but not limited to, transmission line routing, design, structural analysis, etc. Duties may include construction PLS CADD models, POLE models, creation of construction documentation, materials, technical specifications, analyzing maps, blueprints, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects.

Work Location: Candidate ideally resides in the Greater Portland, OR area to work a hybrid schedule; however, all qualified candidates residing in the Pacific Northwest of U.S. will be considered, including fully REMOTE, if warranted by experience/ skillset.

What Sets You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of two (2) + years of relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems, or Master's degree with less than 2 years of prior such experience.

  • Experience using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.

  • Work effectively in team environment; can also work independently.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with clients and project teams.

  • Work in client office is a possibility and/or periodic travel may be required.

You Might Also Have:

  • Experience with TOWER is a plus.

  • EIT or PE certification is desirable.

  • Experience with LPILE or FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD or MicroStation, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a plus.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
