Blue Origin LLC Sr EMI/EMC Systems Engineer - Lunar Permanence in Seattle, Washington

As part of a small and accomplished team of experts on the Specialty Engineering team you will be responsible for the top-level EMI/EMC design, test, integration, and architecture for electrical and electronic systems. You will be responsible for testing and documenting the EME requirements for electrical systems and components. You will lead design trades for system approaches for EMI/EMC, space charging, grounding/bonding, and lightning tolerance. You will also be responsible for developing verification strategies for electrical system design and test requirements. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedication and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. Responsibilities: As a domain authority in the Specialty Engineering Group you will contribute to company-wide system and component level EM design, analysis, and test activities. Develop vehicle, system, and component level requirements and verification methods, design solutions, and perform integrated system trades for EMI/EMC, lightning, ESD, RF, spacecraft charging, and grounding/bonding. Serve as a responsible engineer for electrical system EME design, test, and verification. Develop Test Plans and Test Procedures for implementing EMI/EMC tests on avionics components and integrated vehicles. Ensure compliance to EMC standards methodologies by applying your knowledge and analytical skills to circuit schematics, cable harnesses, PCB layouts, and avionics enclosures. Collaborate with customers on solving EMI/EMC test failures and anomalies and recommend corrective actions. Review engineering drawings for proper bonding, surface finishes, and assembly. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related technical field. 8+ years proven experience in aerospace system EMI/EMC test, electrical design, and verification. Solid understanding of EM physics, coupling methods, and effects applicable to aerospace systems. Familiarity with triboelectric charging, p-static analysis, dielectric breakdown, grounding/bonding, lightning effects, shielding effectiveness, electrostatics, and conducted/radiated emissions/susceptibility. *Experience with computational electromagnetic solvers: Ansys EM suite (HFSS, Maxwell, Q3D), CST, and EMA3D/NASCAP-2k (for Spacecraft Charging). Extensive knowledge of and experience with MIL-STD-461G, DO-160G, and NASA-STD-4003.
