REI Sr Digital Merchandiser in Seattle, Washington

Overview

The Sr. Digital Merchandiser, E-Commerce is responsible for developing and executing digital strategies to drive conversion and demand for a collection of categories, brands and products within REI’s digital retail channels. This role uses digital data from internal and external tools to influence extended online assortment, including brand, price-band, and category opportunities while optimizing the digital retail experience to drive in-season conversion.

The Sr. Digital Merchandiser owns the digital product merchandising strategy to meet margin, promotion and event business goals which includes identifying liabilities, risks and opportunities using in season, past season and competitive insights. Contribution to marketing campaign offerings identifying item, category, and product opportunities and risks to meet and exceed digital retail objectives is critical. This role is tasked with the digital retail representation to ensure a successful launch of large enterprise-level projects supporting key product, activity and brand initiatives. This role works closely with the key cross divisional teams within Digital Retail, Marketing, SEO, and Merchandising to ensure companywide strategies and campaigns are executed in a way that supports a consistent customer experience at all touch points while driving top-line demand for assigned categories. The Sr. Digital Merchandiser E-Commerce role stays current with the state of the competitive marketplace and trends in retailing and e-Commerce and communicates and uses that knowledge in their daily work.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Utilize internal and external data sources to provide assortment, price-band, and promotional insights to key stakeholders; excels at using multiple sources of data to pull insights and direct actions.

  • Identify risks and opportunities to maximize digital demand while considering margin implications

  • Knowledgeable in Merchandising financial performance measurements (Sales, gross margin, out-of-stock, inventory health and status, profitability and other key business indicators)

  • Understands, interprets, applies and trains others on eCommerce Demand metrics (Traffic, AOV, RPV, conversion, etc) to support category and product conversion strategies.

  • Use site analytics to optimize digital funnel placement, presentation and conversion

  • Plan promotion and event digital strategies to meet business goals; proactively plan and identify risks, liabilities and opportunities for digital retail collaborating with merchant counterparts

  • Create comprehensive seasonal digital category plans for assigned categories detailing past projects and learnings and product support plans for upcoming season

  • Execution and iteration on seasonal plans with regular performance reviews

  • Collaborate with peers within SEO, Merchandising, Planning, Marketing, ensuring complimentary and coordinated efforts with a shared vision and shared outcomes

  • Leverage data and Digital knowledge along with deep understanding of corporate business perspective to drive cross-functional decisions

Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience in an online retailing environment.

  • 5+ years web analytics experience including a solid understanding of web metrics, testing methodology and optimization strategies.

  • Experience with web-based analytical tools such as: Adobe Analytics or similar demand driven solution. Demonstrated use of analytics to drive business decisions.

  • Experience using search and merchandising solutions to execute dgitial merchandising plans and strategies is desired as well as publishing platforms.

  • Previous experience in the outdoor gear marketplace and ability to capitalize on market trends a plus.

Pay Range

$96,400.00 - $154,300.00 per year
