Amazon Sr. Data Engineer in Seattle, Washington

Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. AWS Team Engage develops and operates 1P and 3P based solutions to support the SMGS' mission and to drive positive outcomes for our internal and external customers.

Team Engage is looking for a Sr. Data Engineer (DE) with a passion for working on cutting edge technology, who obsesses over bar raising experiences for customers, and thrives on the challenge of building something new that will operate at world-wide scale to join our fast paced team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing modern, creative, and innovative data experiences across a breadth of customer facing web apps, our data warehouse for reporting, and integration with third party applications.

The Sr. DE is passionate about and capable of developing robust, scalable data models and optimizing the consumption of data sources we require to generate unique insights about our systems. You will share in the ownership of the technical vision and direction for advanced analytics and insight products. You will work with top-notch technical professionals developing complex systems at scale and with a focus on sustained operational excellence. Members of this team will be challenged to innovate using the latest big data techniques. We are looking for people who are motivated by thinking big, moving fast, and exploring business insights. Responsibilities:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to display your skills in the following areas:

· Managing AWS resources including Kinesis, Glue, RDS, S3, Redshift, Quicksight, etc

· Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS big data technologies

· Explore and learn the latest AWS technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency

· Collaborate with Business Intelligence Engineers (BIEs) to recognize and help adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation

· Collaborate with other tech teams to implement advanced analytics algorithms that exploit our rich datasets for statistical analysis, prediction, clustering, machine learning, and Generative AI.

· Work directly with our key customer stakeholders to help continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers

About Sales, Marketing and Global Services (SMGS)

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience with SQL

  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

  • Experience mentoring team members on best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR

  • Experience operating large data warehouses

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
