Amazon Sr. Cloud Ops SA, AWS Industries Specialist SA in Seattle, Washington

The AWS Industries (AWSI) Specialist SA team is seeking a Senior Cloud Operations Solutions Architect (SA). Aligned to the world's largest companies, the Sr. Cloud Ops SA is responsible for leading customers through the design and implementation of best practices to run and maintain workloads on AWS. In this role, you'll partner with AWS Account Teams to drive cloud operations excellence with customers, including observability, automation, landing zones, optimization, and more. As part of the AWS Industries Specialist SA team, you'll have an opportunity to spearhead foundational best practices with domain experts across the globe.

As an experienced cloud operations expert, you’ll be responsible for representing customers with aligned product teams, shaping external guidance, and scaling through industry focused pattern development. You’ll have opportunities to develop your personal brand through public guidance published as blogs, as well as opportunities to speak at AWS conferences. You’ll be expected to earn the trust of platform engineers and technology executives alike. As a member of the AWS technical community, you’ll mentor members of the technical field, lead internal enablement sessions, and help influence messaging. The ideal candidate has experience deploying enterprise-scale observability solutions, and may have experience in infrastructure-as-code or automation technologies.

A day in the life

  • Work with customers to understand the business impact of the workload

  • Provide expert-level knowledge on various architecture patterns and services

  • Document and share best practices across through blog posts, white papers, speaking engagements, and more

  • Work with AWS product and service teams to collect and prioritize customer feedback

  • Collect and communicate cloud operations trends from a global set of multinational customers

About the team

As a Solutions Architect at AWS, you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to build broad use of Amazon's utility computing web services (e.g., Amazon S3, Amazon EC2, and Amazon Cloud Front) directly with our key customers. Your broad responsibilities will include: owning technical engagements, designing secure architectures, developing a deep expertise in the AWS technologies as well as broad know-how around how applications and services are built securely using the AWS platform, and being a subject-matter expert on securing cloud workloads.

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience

  • 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience

  • Experience architecting infrastructure solutions using both Linux/Unix and Windows with specific recommendations on server, load balancing, HA/DR, & storage architectures

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience

  • Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients

  • Experience working with end user or developer communities

  • Knowledge of AWS services, market segments, customer base and industry verticals

  • Experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS

  • 3+ years of deploying enterprise-scale observability solutions and experience in infrastructure-as-code or automation technologies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
