Blue Origin LLC Software Engineer III, Displays & Controls - Lunar Permanence in Seattle, Washington

Passion for our mission and vision is required! This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. Come help us land on the moon! Our team crafts the software that will drive the cockpit displays of a crewed lunar lander. This includes embedded software to show the vehicle and navigation data, as well as the tools used to create and support that software. We are fiercely dedicated to writing code that is simple, fast, and above all, verifiably safe. You will work directly with pilots, human-factors experts, designers, and a variety of other specialists. We are looking for coders to join the team that are strong collaborators and solid communicators - people who can lend their technical expertise, talent and passion to help return humans to the moon. Special Mentions: Relocation provided Travel expected up to 3% of the time Interviews will include a technical assessment Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Design, implement, test, and deploy human-rated flight software in C++. Develop software requirements in coordination with customers, systems engineers, and subsystem owners. Work with flight software, subsystem teams, pilots, and human-interface experts to define requirements and develop best-in-class piloting and data displays. Perform trade studies on software tools, architecture, and implementation. Document software architecture and design using UML. Write unit tests, support integration, and participate in code reviews. Support integration of software components with Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation environments. Employ and support Continuous Integration tool chains and build servers. Communicate and promote the capabilities and needs of the displays & controls software. Minimum Qualifications: B.S. degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, aerospace, or related field, or equivalent experience. 4+ yearsof software development and testing experience including multi-threaded programming. Strong C++ object-oriented design, development, and debugging experience. Demonstrated experience developing UI applications. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with full lifecycle development, including gathering requirements, design, implementation, integration, verification, and release.
