F5, Inc. seeks Software Engineer I in Seattle, WA:

Job Duties: Collaborate with technical leads to design, code, and test robust, scalable, loosely coupled components that integrate into public and private cloud infrastructure. Consistently apply good software design, implementation, and test principles by using various industry best practices (design pattern, TDD). Timely delivery of features and bug fixes with high quality code (fast, performant, accurate and maintainable code). Apply knowledge of cloud technologies (both public and private, such as AWS, Azure, or VMware vSphere), and container and orchestration systems such as Docker and Kubernetes to create, support, and extend new services, containers and orchestrator configurations. Utilize knowledge of networking (Layer 1 -> 7 and related protocols at layer 3 or above: TCP, UDP, SSL) and web technologies (JavaScript, DNS, socket, HTTP, HTTPS, WebSocket, WebAssembly) to build and/or support new features into the product. Troubleshoot issues in a timely manner and using the proper tools effectively (GDB, Delve, logging, core, breakpoints). Quickly learn existing code base. Learn new languages and technologies (and apply to their work effectively). Code using real-time languages (such as Rust or C++) with appropriate data structures and algorithms to maximize performance and resource usage, as well as in other cloud-oriented languages (Go) and scripting languages (Python, JavaScript). Telecommuting is an option. Some travel to F5 Seattle office may be required.

Minimum Requirements: Masters degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or closely related quantitative discipline, and one (1) year of experience in job offered or in any occupation in a related field.

Special Skill Requirements: (1) Low level system programming with C/C++; (2) Containerization and container orchestration technology; (3) Cloud computing; (4) Networking; (5) Web/network security; (6) Distributed systems; (7) AuthN, AuthZ and Federation; (8) Web technologies; (9) Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and software design principles; (10) Concurrency and multithreaded programming; and (11) Admin knowledge of the Linux/Unix ecosystem. Any suitable combination of education, training and experience is acceptable. Telecommuting is an option. Some travel to F5 Seattle office may be required.
