Amazon Software Development Engineer II | Personalization, Feed Ranking and Optimization Engine in Seattle, Washington
Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join our Personalization's Feed Ranking and Optimization Engine Team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing machine learning systems that recommend and rank content for Amazon's interest-based shopping experiences.
Key job responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable personalization systems and algorithms
Collaborate with applied scientists and product managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Implement machine learning models and recommendation systems to enhance user experiences
Analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights and patterns
Optimize existing personalization features for improved performance and accuracy
Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices and coding standards
Monitor and troubleshoot personalization systems in production environments
Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in personalization and machine learning
A day in the life
As an SDE in Personalization, you will design, write, test, and deploy code that millions of Amazon customers use each day. Code is typically written in Python, Java, or Scala. You will review the code of others to ensure it's efficient, maintainable, and scalable. You will work with other engineers, product managers, and scientists to discuss features, requirements, or technical challenges. You will work backwards from real customer problems where novel solutions are required. You may survey the literature for inspiration, and adapt ideas from other problem domains to deliver your projects. You will help grow other engineers around you.
About the team
Our team builds machine learned ranking systems for interest-based shopping experiences. What differentiates what we do from other teams at Amazon is that we rank videos, photos, questions & answers, in addition to normal products.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
