This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedication and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. We are looking for an experienced electric motor and solenoid engineer to lead drive development for pumps and valves for our Lunar Lander for NASA's Artemis mission. Work will include the complete life cycle of from requirements definition, analysis, design, development, assembly, verification, and operation on the moon! We will be designing and building clean sheet advanced liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen pumps for our Lunar Lander. You will provide technical leadership to a team designing multiple pumps across a broad range of pressures and flow rates. A successful candidate will have led development of multiple cryogenic pump designs for space applications as a subject matter expert in turbomachinery. This position encompasses mentoring and technical leadership of a team of early career and experienced engineers to drive pump ecosystem strategy, design, and delivery. You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth. Qualifications: B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering or related technical subject area 15+ years of experience in cryogenic turbomachinery design Expertise in pump design aspects such as mechanical/thermal design, rotor dynamics, secondary flows, hydro design, or bearing selection Strong project management skills & ability to mentor and technically lead a diverse team of engineers across multiple complex development programs Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills with ability to directly collaborate with external parties including government and commercial entities Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum Willingness to work on-site with occasional travel Desired: M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering or related technical subject area Systems Engineering experience, specifically requirements and interface definition, management and verification Compensation Range for: CA applicants is $136,467.00-$191,053.80;CO applicants is $125,480.25-$175,672.35;WA applicants is $136,467.00-$191,053.80 Other site ranges may differ Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
