Amazon Senior Finance Manager, AWS Platform Finance in Seattle, Washington

The growing AWS Platform organization is a group of businesses working on challenging and time sensitive projects and needs a senior finance professional to partner with them on planning and analysis.

Key job responsibilities

This position works closely with senior business partners and finance professionals at all levels to drive thoughtful analysis and controllership on AWS’s products. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead, build, and develop a team of high performing finance professionals.

  • Help the business partners in developing challenging goals, business plans and financial plans and then help them achieve these results.

  • Play a critical role in cost management, controllership, pricing, business case development, decision-making, and metrics development.

  • Identify financial improvements, deep dive on cost structures, and analyze business deals with a keen eye on scaling for future growth and improving our customer experience.

  • Lead all aspects of financial planning, analysis, processes and controls to support external financial reporting and management financing reporting.

A day in the life

This person will lead a team that implements and drives the core financial processes for the business. This role requires a self-starter with leadership experience mentoring, building and developing a team, a strong financial background, and problem solving skills in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous situations. This role has regular interaction with several business units across AWS and requires the ability to communicate succinctly and efficiently with others a all levels.

About the team

The AWS Platform Finance team is a team of financial professionals supporting the planning and analysis needs of the AWS Platform organization. These customer facing businesses appreciate the value and strong partnership from finance and are eager for more support.

Basic Qualifications

  • 12+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field

  • 5+ years of hiring, leading and developing teams experience

  • 8+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

  • 8+ years of mentoring junior finance and/or business team members experience

  • 5+ years of working with senior staff (e.g. c-suite) experience

  • MBA, or CPA

  • 3+ years of performing financial and ad hoc analysis using data reporting tools experience

  • 10+ years of positions that require analysis and reporting financial results experience

  • 8+ years of Accounts Receivable or Account Payable experience

  • 8+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience

  • 8+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience

  • 8+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience

  • 7+ years of directly managing and leading a team of 10+ members experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $137,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $227,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
