Amazon Senior Data Scientist, AWS Support in Seattle, Washington

Description

We are looking for a passionate Senior Data Scientist Intelligence Engineer to join a growing analytics team in the AWS Support Product and Global Business Development organization to help inform the direction of AWS Support and Amazon Managed Services through data, at scale.

As a data scientist with the AWS Support Product team, you will be shaping the way product performance is measured, defining what questions should be asked, and scaling analytics methods and tools to support our growing business, leading the way for high quality, high velocity decisions for your team. You will leverage your strong background in Data Science and Machine Learning to enable efficient, data-driven decision. This role requires a pragmatic technical leader who is comfortable navigating ambiguous environments and is capable of effectively summarizing complex data analysis and modeling results through clear verbal explanations and written documentations.

Key job responsibilities

  • Interact with product managers, business teams, and engineering teams to develop an understanding and domain knowledge of business requirements, processes and system structures.

  • Distill ambiguous product or strategy questions, find clever ways to answer them, and to measure the uncertainty; translate product and strategy questions into metrics, and work with BIEs to dashboard these metrics.

  • Design and evaluate A/B tests and experiments to measure the effectiveness of front-end product improvements and algorithmic machine learning systems.

  • Produce ad-hoc reports and insights that help teams move forward with time-sensitive product and strategy decisions.

  • Maintain a culture of high-quality output and engagement with team members; communicate technical information to technical and non-technical partners; manage ad hoc requests and unexpected obstacles.

  • Lead the project plan from a scientific perspective on product launches including identifying key milestones, potential risks and paths to mitigate risks.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of data scientist or similar role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling and communication experience

  • Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree

  • 5+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience

  • Experience with statistical models e.g. multinomial logistic regression

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of data visualization using AWS QuickSight, Tableau, R Shiny, etc. experience

  • Experience as a leader and mentor on a data science team

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science

  • Experience in forecasting analyses

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
