Starbucks senior accountant, Global Lease Accounting (Remote - U.S.) in Seattle, Washington

As an accountant in Global Lease Accounting, you will be part of an incredible team that supports our growing and complex global business. Our team leads the accounting for the Company’s end-to-end retail and non-retail lease lifecycle from lease negotiation and inception through to decommissioning. We work across a broad range of occupancy-related business support areas including accounting processes for rent expense, right of use asset and lease liability recognition in accordance with U.S. GAAP, business analytics, and financial statement disclosure preparation. We are looking for the right partner to join our team in this fast-paced and exciting area!

As a senior accountant, you will:

• Be an integral part of the success of the team – You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing journal entries for accuracy and compliance with company policies and applicable accounting principles. You will reconcile accounts or review account reconciliations prepared by others.

• Maintain and develop various accounting systems and processes – You will be responsible for maintaining and developing the various systems in your area and will have the opportunity to recommend and implement improvements to existing systems and processes.

• Support month and quarter end close – You will perform trend and variance analysis as part of month- and quarter-end close. You will support quarterly earnings and ongoing budget and forecasting processes and effectively produce ad-hoc reporting and analysis to support business operational, financial and strategic decisions.

• Help develop global accounting policies – You will research new or existing accounting guidance for business transactions, summarize and recommend the appropriate accounting approach to management, and prepare or review accounting memos.

• Train and coach others – You will assist the manager with facilitating cross-training amongst the team and tracking of day-to-day tasks and setting team priorities. You may lead or support special projects as assigned.

• Enjoy working on an energetic, fun team and have a clear ability to drive the business forward as part of a highly collaborative team, while acting in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

We’d love to hear from people with:

• Experience in accounting at a professional level, including journal entries, account reconciliation, reporting and analysis or equivalent experience (3+ years)

• Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred

• Experience using an ERP system and business intelligence and reporting tools (such as Hyperion and Oracle) preferred

• CPA desired but not required

• Public accounting experience a plus

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.  At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.

If you live in the greater Seattle area, we offer a flexible workplace that allows for hybrid work. Partners can work remotely up to two days per week.

The pay range for this position may be narrower than that displayed, depending on where the work is performed.
