Amazon Security Communications Specialist, AWS Security Messaging in Seattle, Washington

Description

The AWS Security Messaging team is seeking a high-judgment, high-performing individual to lead strategic communication initiatives for the largest cloud provider in the world. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, security fundamentals and public communications experience, as well as stakeholder management and influence skills.

The team is responsible for helping customers stay secure through timely and transparent messaging about security issues. The Security Communications Specialist owns the communication strategy and lifecycle, drives process improvement, and bolsters the maturity of the program. A successful candidate considers business and brand risk, efficiently produces quality deliverables, proactively removes roadblocks, and gracefully handles competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

This position includes rotating on-call responsibilities.

Key job responsibilities

  • Advise on communications strategy, managing unpredictable issues and addressing blockers

  • Translate complex technical concepts into digestible, audience-appropriate messages

  • Successfully aggregate data from multiple sources to enable effective decision making

  • Drive continuous improvement by embracing new strategies, tools, and processes

  • Regularly track, analyze and report on progress against goals, and overall program health for team business reviews and reports

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 3+ years of experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders, and multiple levels of leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare technical communications for technical and non-technical audiences

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience working cross functionally with technical and non-technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a role that focuses on IT security and/or cloud technology (e.g. security operations, incident response, security engineering, threat intelligence)

  • Understanding of incident response and information security practices and concepts

  • Experience using data and metrics to identify and drive improvements

  • Familiarity with AWS services (e.g. EC2, S3, GuardDuty, IAM, Lambda)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $197,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
