$10,000 Sign-On Bonus for eligible full-time new employees joining UW Medicine UW Medical Center-Montlake - 8SE Gynecologic Oncology Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for an Oncology Nurse Navigator (job profile: Registered Nurse 2). This is a unique nursing role, focused on empowering patients to navigate their cancer treatment with confidence, compassionate guidance, and advocacy.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Full time / 100% FTE

  • 40 hours per week

  • Day shifts PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides patient-centric care to those with a gynecologic cancer diagnosis.

  • Assist patients, families, and caregivers to overcome healthcare system barriers

  • Work between the domains of the patient and family and the healthcare delivery system to improve health, treatment, and end-of-life outcomes

  • Provide care coordination throughout the cancer continuum, ensuring timely access

  • Provide education and resources to patients, families, and caregivers about diagnoses, treatment options, side effect management, post-treatment care, and survivorship

  • Promote autonomous decision making through personalized education and support

  • Assess and promote healthy lifestyle choices and self-care strategies through education and referrals to ancillary services

  • Develop and use appropriate assessment tools (e.g. distress screening, pain scale, performance status)

  • Support a smooth transition of patients from active treatment into survivorship or end-of-life care

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Fred Hutch and UWMC Clinical Pathways

  • Facilitate communication among members of the multidisciplinary cancer care team to prevent fragmented or delayed care that could adversely affect patient outcomes; this includes participation and coordination of multidisciplinary case reviews and tumor boards REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)

  • Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State

  • A certification in oncology nursing, such as an OCN-Oncology Certified Nurse

  • Previous experience in oncology nursing, with a strong understanding of cancer treatments, symptom management, and supportive care

  • Ability to advocate for patients' needs and preferences throughout their cancer journey

  • A compassionate approach to support patients and families facing the challenges of cancer diagnosis and treatment
