We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to join our Vascular Access Team at the University of Washington Medical Center – Montlake Campus in Seattle, WA. This position is part time, 60% FTE.

SCHEDULE
Department Hours of Service: 0700-1930. This position will primarily be a 10hr position, with shifts scheduled from 0900-1930.

REQUIREMENTS
Position requires Washington State RN license, and at least two years current/recent Med-Surg experience, excellent IV insertion skills.. BLS and ACLS required.

POSITION DETAILS
o UWMC serves a wide variety of patient populations all of which our Vascular Access Team supports including: • Inpatient acute care • Inpatient critical care • Outpatient areas: Clinics, Limited Stay, ED, & Infusion Areas o In addition to Med/Surg patient populations, UWMC cares for a variety of specialty patient populations including: • Cardiology • Oncology including Stem Cell Transplant • High risk Maternal Infant Care • Solid organ transplant o Primary responsibilities include: • Placement of complex peripheral venous access, including ultrasound-guided PIV insertion. • Consultation for all CVC troubleshooting including PICC, non-tunneled CVCs, tunneled CVCs, HD catheters, port-a-caths etc. • Monitoring CVC insertion in acute care departments. • Consult with medical providers to provide patients with appropriate venous access while supporting vein preservation • Formal and informal vascular access teaching opportunities o Out of scope: o PICC insertion training (new) is generally out of scope for this position, though may be considered on a case by case basis depending on the needs of the team at the time o Neonatal care o Vascular access expertise highly preferred. PICC insertion experience preferred.
