The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are looking for a Procurement and Contracts Manager to join our Finance and Accounting division in Seattle, WA. In this role, you will lead and create strategic procurement initiatives and contract management activities that optimize costs, enhance supplier relationships, mitigate risks, and uphold ethical standards. You will also ensure effective supplier selection, negotiation, and contract oversight. Additional responsibilities include

  • Procurement Practices: In-depth understanding of procurement methodologies, strategic sourcing, supplier evaluation, and procurement best practices.

  • Contract Law: Familiarity with contract law principles and contract management, including drafting, negotiation, and interpretation of

  • Supplier and Stakeholder Relationship Management: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure productive partnerships.

  • Risk Management: Understanding of risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and compliance with regulations to minimize procurement-related risks.

  • Ethics and Compliance: Awareness of ethical standards, legal requirements, and regulatory compliance in procurement and contract management.

  • Financial Acumen: Understanding of financial concepts, budgeting, cost analysis, and ROI assessment to make financially sound decisions.

  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in using data analysis tools to interpret procurement data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.

  • Project Management: Skills in project planning, execution, and monitoring, as procurement often involves managing complex projects.

  • Lead and performance manage procurement team through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning that includes individual goal setting and performance evaluations.

  • Lead Request For Proposal (RFP) efforts: Negotiate terms, pricing, and contractual conditions with suppliers to achieve favorable outcomes.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or a related discipline preferred.

  • 10 years with a combination of Procurement, Purchasing & Contract experience.

  • 2-3 years leading a team.

  • Understanding of supply chain concepts, inventory management, and logistics processes.

  • Ability to lead and motivate a procurement team, delegate tasks, and manage team performance.

  • Skill in identifying issues, finding creative solutions, and resolving conflicts that arise during procurement and contract management.

  • Flexibility to navigate changing market conditions, technology advancements, and organizational priorities.

  • Aptitude for making well-reasoned decisions in a timely manner, considering both short-term and long-term implications.

  • Ability to collaborate with various internal stakeholders and departments to align procurement strategies with organizational goals.

  • Skill in addressing conflicts and disputes, finding common ground, and maintaining positive relationships.

  • Willingness to embrace innovative procurement strategies and technology solutions for process improvement.

The pay range for this position is $80,100 - $134,400 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
