Amazon Principal, Risk Management, Regulatory Intelligence Safety and Compliance in Seattle, Washington
Description
The Regulatory Intelligence Safety and Compliance (RISC) team's charter is to protect Amazon customers from products that are illegal, illegally marketed, unsafe, or otherwise prohibited by Amazon policies.
This role is a highly visible leadership position which serves as a business liaison, program leader and consultant on various business and technical topics across programs within the RISC organization. The candidate is expected to develop a broad understanding of businesses across global RISC organization and leadership skills to influence partners and stakeholders. The ideal candidate thinks strategically, takes initiatives, leads by example and operates effectively.
Key member of the RISC leadership team
Own business planning process for a large, high-impact, global organization
Work with senior leaders across Amazon, weighing in and advising on key decisions
Own highly visible mechanisms critical to RISC
Exposure to leadership opportunities for new projects, either developing new innovative ideas that will be highly visible or offering input and guidance on project ideas developed by other teams
Job responsibilities include:
a. Own critical business mechanisms, rhythms of the business including QBRs, WBRs, and VP+ updates.
b. Led efforts on organizational planning such as: site strategy, development plans, organization health etc.
c. Help audit changes and progress across our business areas.
d. Help establish mechanisms and a culture to streamline high velocity delivery of VP+ visibility deliverables.
c. Act as a STL for special projects and lead deep dives in collaboration with our Legal, Operations and Technical stakeholders.
d. Lead projects that require a single threaded owner outside the existing program areas.
e. Manage, in collaboration with Finance and EA team, the annual planning process (3YP, OP1, OP2), agenda/topics for leadership meetings (weekly meeting, strategy planning sessions).
Key job responsibilities
Manage a team of high performing risk managers
Identify and mitigate risk to Amazon customers at scale, designing new technical solutions to enable us to mitigate risk quickly
Use data to drive high judgement decisions on policies and risk solutions

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Minimum of 10+ years of people management and operations leadership experience in a fast paced operating environment.
Previous experience leading large teams to high levels of performance.
Experience Program/Project management skills necessary.
Previous experience of creating and contributing to strategic planning processes.
Strong ability to source and analyze data to drive business strategies and decisions.
Coaching and leadership skills that bring out the best of the team.
Preferred Qualifications
Post-graduate degree (MBA, MS, etc.)
Excellent communication and analytical sills
Strong bias for action and "get it done" attitude
The ability to deal with ambiguity and a changing environment, as well as a rapid work pace.
A proven track record of being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow through on projects.
Sound business judgment, proven ability to influence others, and strong analytical thinking skills are critical to success in this position
Experience with large scale e-commerce platforms including systems involving complex business logic
Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial, as well as ability to scope technical requirements and prioritize

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $214,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
