Amazon Principal Product Manager - Technical, Devices OS in Seattle, Washington

Description

As a Principal Product Manager Technical in the Amazon Devices OS organization, you’ll be shaping the future of connected devices and bring a solution from concept to reality. You will be part of a Product team with broad charter and senior executive visibility. Your focus will be building delightful experiences for app developers that want to be on our devices (e.g. Fire TV, Automotive). This role is a great fit for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, is highly technical, empathizes with developers, and has experience working with large engineering teams. This role also requires being a big thinker, obsessed customers and building delightful experiences, entrepreneurial and passionate about innovating on behalf of customers, and demonstrate a high degree of product ownership.

Key job responsibilities

  • Play a thought leadership role within the Device OS organization, influence senior leadership and partner teams

  • Inspire the team with the product vision, invent new ways to enable app development, and work cross-functionally to bring the product to life

  • Work with customers, internal and external partners to identify the right features, priorities and user journeys

  • Regular engagement with senior executives to represent your project within broader strategies

  • Partner with engineering leaders across orgs to align on the strategy for the program and tehcnical implementation choices

  • Write business requirement documents and define use cases, features, and KPIs

  • Create the business case and go to market strategy

  • Manage the entire product life cycle from inception to launch

  • Plan and launch the product with customers, including Beta customers

  • Hire and develop the best by building/managing a team to deliver on your charter

About the team

The Amazon Devices org designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics, including the best-selling Kindle family of products. We have also produced devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, Amazon Dash, and Amazon Echo.

The Device OS team invents ways to help customers develop complex applications deployed on multiple device types. Developer experience ensures the software product is fully usable, well-designed, functional, and easy to navigate.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Experience technical product management

  • Experience in technical product management, program management or engineering

  • Experience leading engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product

  • Experience with end to end product delivery

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements

  • Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
