Amazon Principal Policy Manager, Compensation in Seattle, Washington

Description

We are seeking an experienced policy manager to own strategy and implementation of Compensation policies for Amazon globally. The role requires fast-paced research and writing, with a critical analysis of the scale and scope of policy. An ideal candidate will have worked in areas with a high degree of ambiguity and complexity and will be comfortable driving highly visible policy decisions on tight timeframes.

In this role, you will build and develop relationships with a variety of internal stakeholders to support compensation policies that impact the global Amazon population. You will own end to end delivery from project initiation, planning, execution, to launch including recommendations for technical requirements. Your responsibilities will include project management, data analysis and reporting activities. You will partner with internal teams to calibrate and implement new policies, prioritize new initiatives, and ensure delivery against goals. Key job responsibilities

  • Lead development and revision of global policy guidelines to build a trustworthy employee experience.

  • Contribute to the strategy, evaluation, and maintenance of compensation policy intervention both domestically and internationally, understanding that country to country nuances may exist.

  • Own fast-paced policy research by monitoring industry trends and risk areas; draft and present thoughtful policy proposals to senior leaders.

  • Create and lead cross collaborative workstreams with compensation program teams, compensation consultants, and compensation tech teams

  • Manage key relationships with internal stakeholders within PXT and Legal

  • Maintain a consistent working knowledge of general compensation policy in relation to the macroeconomic environment and competing marketplaces that Amazon operates within

  • Own compensation-facing initiatives related to policy compliance

  • Plan and manage multiple parallel projects

A day in the life

You will leverage your curiosity and attention to detail to understand the details that lie within Amazon's compensation policies and the dynamics that serving a global company of 1.5MM employees present. Your superpowers of earning trust and diving deep will enable you to work in cross collaboration with all members our global compensation org to ensure that we deliver fair and equitable compensation standards and practices. As a single threaded owner for compensation policy you will prepare, deliver, and communicate formalized, yet transparent, policy language that enhances the work of the PXT organization and serves all Amazonians.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 7+ years of program or project management experience

  • 7+ years of cross functional project delivery experience

  • 7+ years of managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership experience

  • 7+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

  • Experience owning program strategy and end to end delivery

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, data science, public administration, finance, engineering, human resources or related field

  • MBA

  • Experience with global policy creation and maintenance relating to Human Resources, Compensation, and/or Benefits

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $124,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $206,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
