About This Role: Forrester Research is seeking a Principal Analyst to be a critical member of the research team responsible for our technology executive practice. This practice serves CIOs, CTOs, and other senior executives within IT and helps them achieve high performance - the ability to deliver great business results through technology. The Principal Analyst delivers research that encompasses: 1) IT strategy and portfolio management, 2) governance and risk management, 3) financial management and budgeting with a focus on economic trends and cost optimization, and 4) performance management. The Principal Analyst has a strong understanding of CIO/CTO concerns and priorities; helps them understand the implications of technology, economies, labor, and other key trends on IT strategy; and they will guide these executives in aligning strategic objectives with emerging technologies, economic realities, and the evolving demands of high-performing IT operating model. Job Description: The Principal Analyst works as part of a high-performing team with a strong emphasis on collaborating with others in all aspects of the job. A Principal Analyst is expected to: Develop a deep understanding of what Forrester clients require to be successful as technology executives and leaders. Conduct primary research into: 1) IT strategy and portfolio management; 2) governance and risk management; 3) financial management and budgeting (including strategies for cost optimization); and 4) performance management including metrics, KPIs, benchmarks, etc. Use this research to help clients navigate economic challenges by providing insights on cost optimization, investment prioritization, and long-term financial sustainability for IT initiatives. Conduct deep analysis of macroeconomic trends and their direct impact on IT budgets, technology adoption, and operational scaling strategies. Work across Forrester research teams and our executive partners to develop a complete research portfolio. Create high quality, actionable, analytically deep and fact-based research content throughout the year. Research, write, and create approximately eight to 12 research projects per year, which includes of mix of written reports, tools, webinars, videos, blogs, podcasts, infographics, and other intellectual property. Build visibility for their research and contribute to Forrester client communities. Consult with clients to apply Forrester's research in the context of their specific business environment and help solve their problems through inquiry, guidance, and advisory and consulting engagements. Present at Forrester-sponsored and industry-related events and deliver client webinars. Establish an industry presence as an influential speaker and thinker, build relationships with journalists who cover the sector, and participate in vendor briefings and field press inquiries as necessary. Support business development and prospect conversations as arranged by Forrester's account leadership teams. Job Requirements: At least 10 years of experience in a mix of roles as a director-level and above practitioner, consultant, or research analyst in technology or in a role within a business PMO.
