The UW Medical Center Heart Institute Clinic (Echo) department at Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time (100% FTE, 40 hours per week), day shift Patient Services Specialist to join our clinic! The Patient Services Specialist 2 will play a key support role in a growing team that values exceptional patient care and collaboration.

Close proximity to public transportation DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Heart Institute at UW Medical Center – Montlake provides a full range of heart healthcare and prevention services.
Our services include general cardiology, cardiac diagnostic imaging tests and procedures, cardiac surgery, arrhythmia management and electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, structural heart services, advanced heart failure management, heart transplant and ventricular assist devices (VADs), adult congenital heart disease management, cardiac psychiatry, cardiovascular genetics and other advanced services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
Responds to patients’ needs and concerns as appropriate
Accepts patient payments (e.g., co-pays, deposits)
Coordinates and assists in scheduling ancillary appointments and consults
Using clinic guidelines, gathers information on the telephone regarding the nature of the patient concern. Triages calls to appropriate staff; obtains necessary information for the return call; initiates emergency procedure when necessary, uses appropriate documentation tools
Orders, coordinates, and distributes medical records as needed
Obtains necessary insurance plan information
Maintains ongoing documentation and tracks authorized referrals
Reviews the Epic Referral Queue daily for incoming orders and new patient referrals QUALIFICATIONS: High School graduation or equivalent AND one year of experience in a health care setting OR three years of general office or customer services experience OR equivalent education/experience.
