The UW MEDICAL CENTER – NORTHWEST - OPERATING ROOMS have an outstanding opportunity for a OPERATING ROOM SCHEDULER .

WORK SCHEDULE • 40 hours per week • Day shifts

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS • Receive orders, verify enough information to schedule exams, check for insurance eligibility and may request insurance authorization • The use of multiple software programs is required to facilitate the orders • Excellent communication skills are required for this position - a scheduler may be on the telephone many hours of the day.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Schedule and confirm imaging exams/procedures • Act as a resource for scheduling problems • As necessary for exam scheduling, communicate patient information to appropriate departments and to radiologists, including preliminary appropriateness screening and lab tests • Act as primary contact with patients, offices and physicians in coordinating diagnostic services for all Diagnostic Imaging modalities • Coordinate ordering lab tests if needed as a prerequisite to imaging procedures • Obtain necessary patient information from referring provider office • Screen for patient insurance eligibility and exam authorization requirements • As assigned, perform department open and closing duties

Strong candidates will have at least 1 year of prior scheduling experience and some completed college coursework.

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: • High school diploma or GED • At least two years of relevant clerical or customer service experience (preferably in a hospital or clinic setting)
