Description Nurse Educator - Surgery @ Swedish First Hill Full Time Day Shift 8-Hour Shifts Functions in collaboration with the Director and Nurse Managers to develop and maintain the clinical orientation program and competency of all nursing staff. The primary responsibility is to ensure that nursing staff, new to the organization, have the resources, support and knowledge to provide excellent nursing care. Main areas of focus will include Medical/Surgical and Critical Care on the evening and night shifts. Other responsibilities may include house-wide education, skill validation, development and coordination of competency programs. Providence caregivers are not simply valued - they're invaluable. Develops ongoing strategies to ensure that nursing staff is demonstrating competency and providing care based on standards of nursing practice. Demonstrates clinical competency in all phases of the nursing process: collecting data and assessing patient status, planning and implementing patient care based on standards of nursing practice and evaluating results of that care. Functions as a professional role model by maintaining current knowledge of nursing care trends, practices and standards. Collaborates and participates with managers, clinical nurse specialists and preceptors to ensure the appropriate orientation of newly hired staff, providing appropriate learning opportunities, validating competencies and evaluating the outcome of the orientation process. Participates in committee and task force groups as needed. Participates in ongoing quality improvement initiatives intended to improve clinical outcomes. Required Qualifications: Coursework/Training: Graduate of an accredited registered nurse program. If incumbent does not have Bachelors of Nursing at time of hire, they must be enrolled and actively pursuing Bachelors of Nursing degree. Washington Registered Nurse License upon hire. 3 years of Current Surgery Nursing experience Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Master's Degree Teaching degree or equivalent experience upon hire. Why Join Providence?
