Job Summary:
The BOLD & GOLD National Director’s role is mission driven and provides strategic leadership and support for developing and implementing the expansion of BOLD & GOLD. The position is responsible for determining and implementing tactics for supporting existing programs that help them thrive, ensuring target outcomes are accessible and impactful for each local site, fostering innovation, and communication that builds a community of program support as well as creating excitement for the goals of BOLD & GOLD. The National Director works closely with a small remote team to create programmatic resources, connect industry experts to local Ys, and ensure program quality. National goals include substantial growth across the country both in terms of number of Ys and number of youth served. This role will also focus on telling the story to build financial and in-kind support as well as community partnerships and collaborative relationships with other organizations, leaders and systems committed to youth development in the outdoors. Ensures that the program value of providing culturally relevant and accessible programming to a diverse group of participants is centered.
Minimum compensation: $ 86,145.12 - 110,000/year
Responsibilities
National Program Oversight (approx. 50%)
Determine necessary components to growth and oversee design of those elements with a focus on both programmatic mission and financial sustainability
Provide leadership to National B & G Expansion staff including ensuring site support, fundraising, recruitment, programming and marketing strategies are aligned
Provide leadership to contractors supporting B&G efforts at local Ys
Create programmatic resources (e.g., manual, templates, recruiting materials, program structure, etc.) for local programs.
Financial oversight of $1M annual budget
Ensure consistent standards and policies and creating efficiencies of scale among local programs.
Ensure/Enforce program goals and framework fidelity/high-quality/ using evaluation, assessments, and feedback
Develop and nurtures national recruitment partners
Oversee the design and delivery of national summer field staff trainings, train the trainer program, and all other relevant trainings
Design and facilitate national gatherings to gather feedback, plan for future sessions, and convene the BOLD & GOLD community
Oversee program communications and support for marketing of all program materials
Ensure evaluation supports core program efforts through participant assessment
Collaborates with the National Outdoor Initiatives Director on efforts that strengthen the program or partner programs
Program Recruitment (approx. 25%)
Determine strategic direction for expansion efforts for the B & G program.
Actively recruits YMCAs to run the program
Drive awareness of the program in the Y movement
Financial Development (approx. 20%)
Expand donor base of BOLD & GOLD
Build relationships with outdoor industry contacts and companies for in-kind or corporate sponsorship
Collaborate on grant-writing and reporting for BOLD & GOLD
Support stewardship of major donors to BOLD & GOLD
Collects photos and stories to demonstrate impact of the program
Support YGS Association (5%)
Collaborate with the Leadership Team in Youth Development and across other Centers of Excellence to drive results and a one Y approach.

Work Environment
This job requires 25% travel and operates in a remote professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Travel is primarily local, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Qualifications
BA/BS degree in Outdoor Recreation, Nonprofit Management, Education, or other related discipline required.
7-years of progressive leadership experience in developing and implementing successful programs for youth, families, and communities.
3 or more years in fund development including managing major donors and grant-funded projects including communicating impact through grant reporting.
Proven history of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
Backcountry outdoor program experience.
Strong understanding of outdoor risk management.
Previous experience in managing multiple departments or program areas.
Experience delivering YMCA youth development programs in diverse settings.
Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
