Blue Origin LLC Mechanical Engineer III (Pyrotechnic, Ordnance, Explosive Devices & Systems) - N in Seattle, Washington

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn (heavy-lift rocket), Blue Moon (lunar landers), Blue Ring (multi-orbit, multi-mission spacecraft), as well as emerging programs. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will create innovative solutions unique to ordnance/explosive/pyrotechnic hardware. The ideal engineer shall share in the team's achievements with hardware design, development, procurement, analysis, testing, and integration. These efforts will culminate in successful crewed and uncrewed missions for Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars and beyond. Qualifications: Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or related fields Strong mechanical system design and integration skills 3+ years of hands-on experience with ordnance/explosive/pyrotechnic hardware Ability to read and apply standards such as AIAA-S113, RCC-319, AFMAN 91-710, NSTS-08060, JSC62809, CxP-70199, MPCV-70199 Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for modeling, drawing, and revision management Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum Preferred Qualifications: 4+ years of focused ownership of explosive hardware throughout its lifecycle from development to recovery Experience with initiators, detonators, frangible joints, cartridge/propellant actuated devices (CAD/PAD), linear products, and bulk charges Experience certifying ordnance per AIAA S-113, RCC-319, SPFMAN 91-710, NSTS-08060, JSC62809, CxP-70199, MPCV-70199, EA-WI-023 Experience with System Engineering principles as they apply to human space flight hardware Experience with analysis tools such as ANSYS, Matlab, or similar Creation and peer review of contract documents like Statements of Work, Supplier Data Requirements Lists, and End Item Data Packages Support and/or oversight of non-conformances with Quality Assurance teams including Material Review Board investigations and resolutions Presentation to technical review boards such as a fracture control board, environmental working group, range safety, and safety and mission assurance flight reviews Experience with software tools like DOORS Next Generation, Confluence, JIRA, Creo, Windchill Compensation Range for: WA applicants is $120,060.00-$168,084.00 Other site ranges may differ Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
