This position reports to the Navigation and Sensors Group in Blue Origin's Lunar Permanence business unit. As part of a hardworking team of diverse spacecraft development engineers, you will lead the development of test and verification systems for lidar navigation sensors for a variety of spacecraft and missions. You will lead test, verification, and certification campaigns for lidar systems, and participate in the full design life cycle of lidar navigation sensor development. You will work closely with the guidance, navigation, and control (GN&C) team to seamlessly integrate and test the lidar navigation system components with the rest of the GN&C. Your contributions will enable flight of state-of-the-art aerospace vehicles and missions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Lead the definition of test and verification approaches for a variety of lidar sensor systems from component to system level tests, and establish verifiable performance specifications of the sensors Lead test and verification campaigns such as functional, environmental, hardware-in-the-loop, flight tests, data validation analyses, etc. to verify component and system level specifications and requirements Development of multiple test facilities, infrastructure, and capabilities ranging from laboratory test equipment to field testing (e.g., ground, aerial, and sub-orbital test campaigns) Contribute to procurement, vendor coordination, delivery, acceptance, installation, verification, validation, qualification, and certification of necessary test equipment Work with Operations, and Assembly Integration and Test teams, to maintain, operate and continually evolve our test capabilities and infrastructure Collaborate in the dDevelopment of lidar navigation and sensor hardware requirements from system level specifications with flow downs to subsystem and component levels, and companion verification methods Support the GN&C subsystem technical lead with a cross-functional mindset to facilitate subsystem and system level architectural decisions Minimum Qualifications: B.S. in Physics, Aerospace engineering or related technical disciplinewith 5+ years of relevant experience Experience in sensor procurement, integration, andtestsupport Experience with development of optical sensors and testing environments Demonstrated experience in verification and test of lidar systems Demonstrated operational use of lidar systems Experience in MATLAB/Simulink Preferred Qualifications: M.S. in Physics, Aerospace engineeringor equivalentwith 10+ years of relevant experience Experience in spaceflightavionics Experience in hardware-in-the-loop simulation Proven system engineering and configuration management skills Working knowledge of NASA human spaceflight standards.
