AWS has an immediate opening for a Sr Technical Program Manager in Global Connectivity and Network Availability(GCNA) organization to support Network Deployment growth initiatives. The TPM will lead cross functional teams to drive the implementation and deployment of the completed designs, develop and document requirements, budgets, and project schedules.

The successful candidate will be an exceptionally strong communicator both written and verbally, and will lead multi-discipline, highly technical project initiatives. The ideal candidate will have successfully managed multiple enterprise-scale infrastructure projects. Their experience includes datacenter networking technologies, as well as familiarity with software delivery, operating systems, server virtualization products, and datacenter automation tools.

The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of experience in technical program management, plus experience managing complex and large-scale and technology projects. Experience in managing networking projects and / or datacenter rollouts is essential. Successfully delivering aggressive project deliverables while effectively multiple competing priorities is essential. Other requirements include proficiency with MS Office, MS Excel + Access, MS Sharepoint and Project Management Methodologies.

Candidate must be comfortable managing remote project delivery teams, and possess the ability to facilitate technical whiteboard sessions to troubleshoot project implementation issues, and remove barriers to project success. The candidate can multitask and re prioritize and effectively lead deliveries based on ever changing business needs. This candidate will be a self starter requiring little guidance, have a 'will get it done attitude' and can make decisions independently. The TPM will be fully competent in project management tools and techniques for all phases of the project lifecycle.

Key job responsibilities

• Monitor the network infrastructure health, customer demand, anticipate risks, resolve issues and initiate corrective action as appropriate.

• Work with stakeholders (networking engineers/tech program managers/senior management) to define requirements and processes.

• Manage the dependencies and the interfaces between projects and negotiate the trade-offs as needed.

• You actively participate in the hiring process as well as mentor others - improving their skills and ability to get things done.Manage multiple competing cross-organizational projects/programs simultaneously

• Interact with engineers, technicians, project managers and senior management on a daily basis

• Analyze, interprete and visualize data, with Redshift, Oracle, Tableau, QuickSight, Redshift, and other BI management and visualization tools.

• Drive automation initiatives, and drive simplification efforts in engineering and project/program management and architectures to unblock innovation

• Create predictable process paths for large and/or complex efforts

• Run meetings, create and maintain timelines, and keep large, diverse groups informed of progress and obstacles

• Excellent writing skill and prepare roadmap document, and effectively communicate progress

A day in the life

Meeting with project teams to ensure progress and delivery timelines meet or exceed the need-by-date. Planning future projects, coordinating design and requirements discussions and driving commitment from stakeholder teams to ensure project are started and finish on time. Reviewing processes and mechanisms for improvement opportunities and driving improvement initiatives at the team and org level.

About the team

GCNA Deployment team responsible for the timely delivery of Border Networking deployments for AWS. Team members own their deliverables end-to-end within a defined geographic scope of ownership.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of technical infrastructure management experience

• Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies, related to infrastructure (i.e. network, data center, hardware, software)

• Experience with varying scenarios of infrastructure builds

Preferred Qualifications

• • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

• • Experience in the management of complex technology and large scale infrastructure projects

• • Experience with and deep understanding of multiple project management methodologies.

• • Familiarity with the AWS network architecture.

• • Excellent multi-tasking and prioritizing skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $197,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
