UW Medical Center - Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a FOOD SERVICE WORKER WORK SCHEDULE

  • Intermittent, no set schedule or hours. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS The Food Service Worker is part of the multi-disciplinary team to provide food, service, and nutritional care to Northwest’s patient population, having advanced knowledge of medically prescribed diet orders, including fluid, texture, electrolyte and nutrient restrictions in a medically vulnerable population and paying special attention to food allergens and cross-contamination. Under direct supervision, they perform a variety of duties including preparation and serving of food and beverages, restocking, and dish room & sanitation duties within the food service operation. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Washes, peels, cuts up vegetables and fruits; opens canned goods.

  • Washes dishes, trays, pots, pans, and utensils.

  • Assembles salads, sandwiches, desserts, and makes beverages.

  • Transports food, supplies, and equipment to and from kitchen, dining areas, storerooms, and refrigerators.

  • Serves food individually or from steam tables and carts; loads and clears steam tables and cars

  • Washes dishes, trays, pots, pans, and utensils

  • Scrubs, mops, and cleans kitchen, refrigeration, garbage areas and floors. Cleans and sanitizes equipment and other surfaces

  • Stocks work areas, including nursing unit pantries, cafeteria, practices First In First Out (FIFO) methods to minimize waste.

  • Operates standard kitchen appliances and equipment (e.g. coffee maker, toaster, dish and glass washers, mixers dish machine)

  • Follows department policies and procedures for food safety and sanitation. Complies with infection control policy and hand washing procedures REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment.
