Amazon Finance Manager, AWS - GDSP Finance in Seattle, Washington

Description

The AWS GDSP Finance Manager will support the rapidly growing AWS organization by providing financial stewardship and analytical insights into the economics of complex private pricing deals and operational performance metrics. This is a high visibility role and will be a strategic partner to the business supporting planning, forecasting and enhancement of compliance and approval controllership process. The role will also support the Senior Finance Manager with mentorship and reviewing work of other members of the team.

Key responsibilities

We are looking for an entrepreneurial minded Finance Manager with an analytical approach and a passion for reporting, analytics and automation. The candidate will develop and enhance financial models, tools and mechanisms that provide intelligence for business decisions and be able to lead simultaneous work streams. This candidate will be responsible for leading cross-functional initiatives, including across other finance and operations teams within the organization. This role requires a self-starter with superb business modeling skills, a keen attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, the ability to operate at all levels, including diving deep into the foundational building blocks of the AWS Sales and Finance Organization, and a track record of being an advisor to the business. The successful candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills, with an ability to build and articulate financial results and analytical insights to executive level business and finance leaders.

Key job responsibilities

• Understand the various AWS Services, their economics and how they impact account profitability.

• Actively provide our sales team with financial acumen and insights to positively influence private pricing deals.

• Drive financial controllership over private pricing deals in alignment with Amazon’s Spending & Transaction Policy.

• Provide leadership, guidance and implementation on driving process improvement and automation of the existing reports.

• Effectively communicate ideas to diverse audiences and influence decision making

• Ability to work with minimal direction in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL

  • 6+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience

  • 6+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience

  • 6+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience

  • 6+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
