Anywhere Real Estate Director Data Engineering - US Remote in Seattle, Washington

Together with our business counterparts in the real estate business, we work daily to deliver differentiating insights (AI & BI) for Strategy and AA & AB Operations.

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced individual to lead our Data Engineering and operations cross-functionally within Data and analytics. In this critical position, you'll ensure the smooth operation of our data infrastructure by overseeing incident resolution and data quality management.

Your primary focus will be on leading the data operations, improving data architecture, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating closely with team members to address data requirements and concerns.

What you’ll do:

  • Leading Data Operations Team: Oversee the data operations team responsible for resolving incidents and issues in data ingestion feeds, master data management, reference data management, Cloud Data Warehouse, and data products. Providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure timely resolution of issues impacting data foundations and downstream data products.

  • Driving Continuous Improvement : Streamline data processes, enhance operational efficiency, and optimize data quality. Identifying areas for automation and implement solutions to minimize manual intervention.

  • Collaborating with Stakeholders: Working closely with collaborators across the organization to understand data operational requirements, address concerns, and prioritize initiatives. Building strong relationships with business partners to ensure alignment between data initiatives and organizational goals.

  • Supervising Performance Metrics: Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor the effectiveness of data quality and operational processes. Regularly analyzing performance data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for optimization.

  • Staying Updated on Industry Trends: Develop deep knowledge of industry trends, standard processes, and emerging technologies related to data ingestion, data processing, data security, data access, master data management, cloud data warehouse, quality assurance, and operational excellence. Be the go-to person for industry trends and proactively advise and coach DNA teams.

About you

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in leading data operations at enterprise scale. You will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are needed to connect with technical & non-technical partners. Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving, with a focus on improvement and innovation in data quality and operational processes.

Your experience

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in data architecture, data infrastructure, and data operations or a related field.

  • Consistent track record in managing data operational teams and driving incident resolution in data feed and load environments.

  • Proven track record building modern data platform using cloud technologies such as AWS, Snowflake, BigEye, Montecarlo, Atlan, etc.

  • Strong experience building Data Quality and Ops Platform such as real-time data anomaly detection and data profiling.

  • Strong experience building real-time data ingestion, data lake storage, optimization, data security, data access.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide a team effectively.

  • Experience in incident management, data quality management, or similar areas.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives and streamline data processes.

  • Knowledge of Snowflake, AWS, Kafka, Airflow, Data Dog, or similar big data technologies.

  • Excellent verbal and written English skills.
