Job Description
The Corporate Communications team is responsible for promoting and protecting the Nordstrom’s brand and reputation with key external and internal audiences. As a Manager supporting public affairs, issues management, and crisis communication, you'll develop and execute strategic communications plans, monitor and assess reputational risks, lead real-time crisis response, and collaborate with teams across the business to anticipate and address complex issues.
A day in the life...
Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies for various issues and crises affecting customers, employees, and stakeholders.
Create and maintain crisis communication plans, including activation criteria and response procedures.
Craft high-quality communications materials, including communication guidelines, talking points, fact sheets, social media content, employee communications, media statements, and coverage reports. Rapidly incorporate feedback from internal stakeholders and disseminate information to appropriate audiences.
Serve as a primary media contact during crises, ensuring accurate and timely coverage. Manage media inquiries, influence coverage, and cultivate relationships with key journalists.
Monitor current events, social trends, geopolitical developments, and the business landscape to anticipate potential reputational risks. Develop scenario plans and equip cross functional teams with messaging for various issues.
Lead the crisis communications team in executing the response plan during incidents. Coordinate with social media teams to address customer inquiries across platforms.
Partner with business units to support communication needs.
Coordinate with external agencies and crisis firms as needed.

Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, related field or equivalent industry experience.
5+ years of experience in communications, with a focus on crisis management and public affairs.
Proven track record in successfully managing high-stakes communication scenarios.
Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects under pressure.
In-depth understanding of social media dynamics and the current media landscape.
Proficiency in media monitoring tools and analytics.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Experience in developing and implementing crisis communication plans.

Pay Range Details
The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.
Washington: $90,000-$175,000 annually
This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more. Eligibility requirements may apply based on location, job level, classification, and length of employment.
