MOFFATT & NICHOL Coastal Engineer - Junior Level in Seattle, Washington

We are actively seeking a Junior Level Coastal Engineer for one of our listed offices. The successful new hire will assist with the planning and design for urban waterfront and coastal structures projects, including marinas, marine terminals, urban waterfront developments and cruise ship facilities, wetland restoration, dredging, shore protection structures, and flood walls. Conduct coastal studies, flood risk management, coastal restoration projections, and protection designs Complete data and engineering analyses and GIS mapping Perform field work as needed Prepare written reports Assist with flood risk reduction, coastal restoration, urban waterfront development, and shore protection projects Conduct ecological assessment Field data collection and navigation of difficult terrain may be required Implementing scientific and regulatory tasks for projects in order to ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations and policies, including NEPA, Endangered Species Act, and Clean Water Act Assist with project types including: Wetland restoration Dredging Waterfront structures Coastal and environmental protection initiatives Ecological surveys Other duties: Please note this job posting is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required Course work in Coastal highly preferred Masters Degree in Coastal Engineering or related preferred 2 to 4 years of experience as a coastal engineer AutoCAD proficiency SWMM proficiency a strong plus Programming skills desired (MATLAB, Python or similar) Design skills desired (GIS, CIVIL 3D, AutoCAD, Illustrator, Photoshop, Google earth engine etc.) Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hires All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171 Base salary range: $39.84 to $48.70 per hour based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.
