Nordstrom Apparel Designer, Men's Tailoring (Hybrid, WA) in Seattle, Washington

Job Description

NOTE: This position is offered as a hybrid role in the Seattle, WA area. You must be willing to work in office at the Nordstrom Seattle office a minimum of 3 days/week to be considered for this position.

As a Designer of Men’s for one of our Nordstrom Product Group (NPG) brands, you will own your category of responsibilities - conceptualizing, sketching and executing product that represent the Brand Ethos and fashion trends that appeal to the Nordstrom customer. The ideal candidate has experience in tailored men’s apparel categories and knows how to drive design development. An elevated design eye and experience in contemporary or luxury markets, a plus.

A day in the life…

  • Own concept & design for your assignment – ensuring it supports Brand Design Direction, Concept, and line plan needs

  • Design original and commercially viable product

  • Customer centric – perform continuous research to understand customer, trends, and shifts in the competitive landscape

  • Research materials, select fabric and trims

  • Support design leadership to build and curate all visual tools needed to support seasonal story telling for their assignment / team

  • Partner with design leadership to color the line

  • Build strong, synergistic relationships with all cross functional partners

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement that pushes innovation and accelerates expected outcomes

You own this if you have…

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, preferred

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in design industry

  • Strong understanding of industry and trends within men’s tailoring

  • Keen eye for fabric development and selection

  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills - ability to work independently or as a team

  • Proficiency in Adobe CS (required), MS Office suite and ability to hand-sketch. Able to quickly adapt to new technology and systems

  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills - h ighly organized and detail oriented

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Washington: $80,000 - $155,000 annually

This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more. Eligibility requirements may apply based on location, job level, classification, and length of employment.
