Blue Origin LLC Aerodynamics Engineer - Space Systems Development in Seattle, Washington

This position reports to the Vehicle Engineering Section in Blue Origin's Space Systems Development business unit. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will support development, analysis, test, and verification of thermal protection systems for current and future spaceflight systems. You will assist with the development of aerodynamic/aerothermal models and databases using hand calculations, engineering methods, numerical methods, and detailed test methods. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of the program through their entire lifecycle, from early conceptual design and configuration through flight operations and sustaining engineering. Qualifications: Minimum of BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering 4+ years of experience with hypersonic aerodynamics/aerothermodynamics Demonstrated experience with CFD tools including mesh generation and solution post-processing Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Desired: MS or higher degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Experience with CFD solvers: CFD++, FUN3D, LAURA; and pre/post processing tools: Pointwise, Ensight, ParaView, Tecplot Experience supporting wind tunnel testing and/or flight testing including data reduction and post-flight data analysis Strong fundamentals in high enthalpy gas dynamics Experience with vehicle aerothermodynamic environments through all phases of flight (launch, exo-atmospheric, re-entry, landing and recovery) Experience with MATLAB, Python, C/C++ Compensation Range for: WA applicants is $109,980.00-$153,972.00 Other site ranges may differ Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
