Port of Seattle College Intern - Construction Management in Seatac Airport, Washington
Some of what you'll be doing:
There are nine (9) available positions for this opportunity, seven summer internships, and two full year internships. Some of your essential duties include:
Support engineering construction management teams for major construction projects at the Port of Seattle.
Work in conjunction with Construction Manager, construction inspectors and project assistants to inspect project materials, workmanship and construction areas to ensure compliance with contract specifications, plans, safety requirement, and applicable codes.
Assist the Construction Manager and inspectors in the identification and resolution of project deficiencies. Work in partnership with our contractors to progress construction and ensure project success.
Assist Construction Manager and project assistants with the administration of the construction contract.
Assist with the coordination of activities between contractors, designers, customers, and Port staff.
Review as-built drawings for accuracy.
Who you are:
A student – You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program or certificate program, or a recent graduate (< 1 year ago) in a program such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, project management, construction management, architecture, aviation program, or related field.

Use of technology – You have knowledge on Microsoft Office products, with a strong emphasis in Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, SharePoint. We hope you also have knowledge of Bluebeam, and Scheduling software.
Communication – You possess excellent communications skills, both written and oral as well as particularly skilled in working with diverse populations.
Organized and proactive – You have a track record of successfully meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. You can balance and prioritize multiple, simultaneous projects.
Desired – We hope you have technical writing skills.
What else you need to know:
Work Schedule – The summer internship work schedule will be Monday – Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. Two of the nine positions may be extended to part time hours during the school year. Applicants must be available to work at least 30 hours per week during the summer months.
Work Environment – You will generally have a combination of both work indoors, in an office environment and also work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. You may be exposed to areas of high noise, various hazardous materials, work at heights and/or in confined spaces.
Limited Duration – This is a limited duration position and is expected to last no longer than one year.
Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
Safety Requirements – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
