Summary Operates magnetic resonance imaging equipment, computer, and image management systems utilized in performing MRI exams. Collaborates with the radiologist and fellow staff members regarding patient testing. Complies with MRI safe practices at all times. On-call as required by the department.
Job Duties Assists in the diagnosis and treatment of neonate, infant, children, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Acquires or produces tomographic images of designated portions of the human body to obtain a diagnosis using magnetic resonance imaging equipment. Prepares and positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately to produce cross-sectional images of the body. Ensures prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality and patient data/history). Performs patient pre-screening, scheduling, and education related to the examination. Assists in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and any other areas in department. Performs contrast injections under the direct supervision of the radiologist or designated physician. Additional duties based upon the needs of the department.
Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED and Specialized Diploma Graduate of an accredited Radiology program. Ability to deal effectively and ethically with medical and confidential information relating to patients, families, physicians and nursing personnel. Ability to maintain a high degree of maturity and exercise individual judgment in working with patients, equipment, and personnel that are involved in MRI exams. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in all written and oral communications, including email. Skills in technical data interpretation. American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire RT - Registered Technologist Radiology - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or MR - Magnetic Resonance Imaging ARRT - State of Pennsylvania within 1 Year or ARMRIT - Registered Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist - American Registry of MRI Technologists within 1 Year
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of Insurance Benefit and Eligibility Websites. Knowledge of Medical Insurance Terminology.
Physical Demands Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: ush/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
